SE40 - Space services' compatibility issues

Latest news

SE40 met 23-24 August, Sicily, Italy and discussed following issues:

Technical study in order to support CPG-PTD activity on the WRC-12 AI 1.18 (Work item SE40_13). SE40 considered the results of public consultation on ECC report 150 dealing with technical studies related to WRC-12 AI 1.18 and addressed the two comments received from ECO and Sweden  in a new version of the report which is submitted to the WGSE meeting for final approval.

Introduction of CGC in the mobile satellite service bands (1610 - 1626.5 MHz and 2483.5 - 2500 MHz)  (Work item SE40_14).  SE40 received several contributions on this issue and in particular on the issue of compatibility between CGC in the band 2483.5-2500 MHz and IMT systems above 2500 MHz, highlighting practical coordination difficulties in coordination between both services. The draft ECC report was revised to include these latest studies and is submitted to the next meeting of WGSE for information.

Support to FM 44 on RNSS pseudolites (Work item SE40_16)SE40 has started the revision of ECC report 128 to include the last study results on CW indoor pseudolites. In addition, SE40 considered the aggregate effect of pseudolites on aircraft RNSS receivers either airborne or at the parking stand at the airport.

SE40 is going to submit the draft revision of the ECC Report 128 to the January 2011 meeting of WGSE for provisional approval.

MSS CGCs and ECN at 2 GHz (possible WI). Based on preliminary analyses provided by France and UK SE40 concluded that:

·         no further study is needed with regard to CGC base stations or CGC/MSS terminals transmitting to a CGC base station, because they use the same technology as ECN with the same OoB masks;

·         for CGC/MSS terminals transmitting to the satellite (i.e. with a higher emission power than to a CGC base station) in the band 1980-2010 MHz, further studies might be required to take into account a higher emission power.

Compatibility between specific meteorological radars at 24 and 35 GHz and other systems in existing services in this and adjacent bands (SE40_17). SE40 started the development of a draft ECC report containing static and dynamic compatibility studies with active and passive EESS sensors operating in the bands 24 and 35 GHz.

Leeheim measurements (compatibility between IRIDIUM and RAS operating in 1610.3 – 1613.8 MHz).  SE40 has received the results of Leeheim measurements conducted on several tens of IRIDIUM satellites during 2 days in June 2010 and have started to process the raw measurement files by correspondence since then.
